One of my favourite weddings of last year to share on the blog today, at the hidden gem that is San Rocco in Ashton. I knew San Rocco as a lovely little restaurant with a great reputation, but I had no inkling of the treat in store for me. The owners of San Rocco had actually taken over an old converted schoolhouse, brimming with character, full of nooks & crannies; I felt like a child in a sweet shop when I arrived & saw the venue for the first time!
Kadie & Andrew were a delight to work with. As usual with my couples, they just let me get on with it, with as little involvement as possible. I want my brides & grooms to celebrate their day without worrying about endless lineups or hours of posed photographs. I’m there to tell the story, not to make the story 🙂
Kadie prepared for the wedding day at her sister’s house with her bridesmaids & mum. A very calm affair, for a change! It was then off to St Michael’s Church in Ashton to meet Andrew, our groom.
The late autumn sun was just dipping beautifully in the sky when Kadie arrived, really making the colours of the trees come alive. The guests waited inside the church, with Andrew looking rather nervous at the front!
A lovely moment followed as our groom, very unconventionally, walked halfway up the aisle to meet his bride. Wonderful!
After the ceremony it was on to San Rocco, stopping off first for a quick stroll around a handy park, Kadie rocking the leather jacket & wedding dress combo!
We arrived at San Rocco a short while later, and the wedding venue was spectacular. Original beams, arched windows & wooden floors all combined to give a lovely rustic feel. I had a lot of fun working out some interesting shots to do with the various purple uplights, using off-camera flash and radio triggers to come up with something a bit cool.
I’ll leave it there for now, and let the rest of the photographs tell the story of the wedding day.
I hope you enjoy this small selection of images. If you are interested in hiring me for your own wedding, please get in touch through the contact form at the bottom of the page. Thanks for stopping by!
