Looking for a Photographer for Your Manchester Wedding?

I hope so, otherwise this will get really confusing, really quickly.

Hello! It’s Andrew, welcome to not my Instagram page. Don’t double tap anything, ffs…

As a Manchester Wedding Photographer, I’ve had the honour of capturing precious moments for so many Mancunians (genuine, adopted and honorary ones) on their special day. I’ve worked at some of the coolest city centre venues as well as gorgeously rustic locations further out in the Greater Manchester countryside. I’ve even been chased by an angry farmer in Dunham Massey.

Fab places and mostly fab people (the farmer was really, really mad) combined with my documentary-style, unposed, and chilled approach is the perfect recipe for compelling, authentic images that you and your partner can treasure forever.

The visual narrative of a pretty epic day.

Why Get Married in Manchester?

I mean, if you absolutely insist on the Maldives, I’m ready and willing to travel.

But maybe you have a few too many guests to make the exotic location feasible?

Don’t sweat it. Sand gets everywhere anyway. Manchester is a great location for couples to tie the knot, offering a diverse range of wedding venues to suit every taste and budget. From country parks and village halls to historic buildings, cool city hideouts, and luxury countryside hotels, Manchester has it all.

As long as we count Greater Manchester too, which I definitely do.

Manchester’s charm extends beyond its stunning venues; the city also boasts a vibrant cultural scene, making it an attractive destination for guests travelling to attend the wedding. Especially if they live down south, they’re probably dying for a proper night out.

With so much to offer, it’s no wonder that Manchester’s venues are an ultra popular choice for couples seeking a memorable and distinctive wedding celebration.

I’ve sprinkled a few of my fave wedding venues a bit further down the page, but there are lots more incredible spots. You’ll be spoiled for choice.

Once you’ve got the perfect venue in mind, the next step is picking the right wedding photographer to immortalise your big day… and with that said…

Look no further than me, Andrew Keher Photography, a fantastic and experienced Manchester wedding photographer!

(I had to plug myself at some point)

I’ve got a talent for capturing the magic of every wedding, from intimate elopements to epic celebrations. With an eye for detail and a love for snapping priceless moments, I might just be the perfect choice for documenting your Manchester wedding.

Telling Your Story

Your wedding day is a real story unfolding, filled with laughter, tears, and memories that will last a lifetime. As a Manchester wedding photographer specialising in creative-but-relaxed photography, my mission is to capture the essence of your love story.

…and swiping any leftover canapés before they go cold.

With more than 200 weddings under my belt, I’ve honed my skills in capturing the moments that matter at some of Manchester’s most gorgeous venues, including the Great John Street Hotel, Castlefield Rooms, Saddleworth Hotel, Eleven Didsbury Park, and the iconic Victoria Baths.

The Art of Creative Documentary-Style Wedding Photography

My unposed, natural approach to wedding photography revolves around observing rather than directing, allowing me to capture genuine emotions and candid in-between moments that often go unnoticed. Using silent cameras and prime lenses, I immerse myself in the day’s events, photographing scenes as I find them and preserving all the feels of the wedding day without being intrusive. This approach ensures that your wedding gallery will be a heartfelt, authentic reflection of your celebration, filled with the emotions and unique moments that define your love story.

But not only that, I do love crafting jaw-dropping portraits you’ll want to show off on your walls. But hey, no stress – I promise I won’t turn your big day into an awkward photoshoot. Just give me a few minutes to capture those relaxed moments together in fabulous light, then it’s back to party time with your favourite people!

My Favourite Manchester Wedding Venues

1. Great John Street Hotel

Amy & Paul’s wedding at the Great John Street Hotel is on the blog.

Nestled in the heart of Manchester, the Great John Street Hotel offers a unique blend of Victorian opulence and modern sophistication. With its rooftop terrace and elegant function rooms, this venue provides a stunning backdrop for your wedding day. As a documentary-style photographer, I love capturing couples as they enjoy the hotel’s beautiful spaces and the incredible city views.

2. The Midland Hotel

Have a look here at Lydia & Josh’s riotous wedding at the Midland Hotel.

The Midland Hotel is a cool & classy venue in the heart of Manchester. Standing proudly as a grade II listed building with a history spanning over a hundred years, its striking Edwardian Baroque style, coupled with its unique location, makes it the perfect backdrop for a city-centre wedding. Perfect for larger weddings as it can accommodate hundreds of happy guests!

3. The Castlefield Rooms

The Castlefield Rooms offers a stylish and contemporary setting for your special day. With its beautiful canal-side location and stunning views of the Castlefield basin, this venue is a photographer’s dream. I’ve had the pleasure of capturing many unforgettable moments here, from intimate first looks on the picturesque terrace to jubilant group shots against the backdrop of the iconic railway arches.

4. Saddleworth Hotel

Set amid the breathtaking Saddleworth Moors, the Saddleworth Hotel is an exquisite venue that offers a perfect combination of luxury and natural beauty. The hotel’s enchanting gardens, grand ballroom, and panoramic views provide countless opportunities for stunning natural photographs. Whether it’s a stolen kiss beneath the lush foliage or the first dance under sparkling chandeliers, I’m always thrilled to document the magic of a Saddleworth Hotel wedding. That view over the moors is pretty special at golden hour!

5. Eleven Didsbury Park

The serene, lush grounds of Eleven Didsbury Park make this Victorian villa a truly romantic setting for your wedding day. As a Manchester Wedding Photographer, I’ve captured many tender moments here, from quiet exchanges in the elegant drawing-room to laughter-filled celebrations on the enchanting garden terrace. The warmth and charm of this venue perfectly complement my documentary approach, allowing me to create heartfelt images that truly tell the story of your day.

6. Victoria Baths

A Manchester wedding venue with a bride giving a speech

The iconic Victoria Baths is a unique and historic venue that offers a one-of-a-kind wedding experience. The Victoria Baths was considered one of the most luxurious and grand bathhouses of its time, with beautiful architectural details such as stained glass windows, glazed terracotta, and decorative tiling. This venue exudes character and charm. As a documentary-style photographer, I relish the opportunity to capture the magic and drama of a Victoria Baths wedding, creating a visual narrative that showcases the venue’s beauty and the couple’s love. And if you liked the TV show ‘Peaky Blinders’, you might recognise a backdrop or two…

Why Should You Choose Me as Your Manchester Wedding Photographer?

With over 200 weddings in my portfolio, I’ve encountered a wide range of situations and learned to adapt my approach to ensure I capture the best possible images, no matter the circumstances. Whether it’s dealing with unpredictable weather, coordinating large groups, or navigating dimly lit venues, my extensive experience allows me to rise to the challenge and create a stunning collection of images that showcase your special day in all its squishy loveliness.

Remember- in Manchester, 60% of the time… it rains every time.

Equipment and Signature Filmic Style

My preferred equipment consists of two camera bodies and prime lenses, which allow me to work quickly and unobtrusively while capturing stunning images in a variety of settings. The use of silent cameras is essential in my documentary approach, as it enables me to photograph candid moments without drawing attention to myself or interrupting the natural flow of the day. High quality prime lenses are my go-to choice for their superior image quality and ability to perform well in low-light Manchester wedding venues, ensuring I can capture the magic of your day, no matter the lighting.

In post-production, I apply a signature filmic style to my digital images, giving them a more organic, slightly vintage feel. This distinctive look enhances the emotional impact of the photos, creating a final collection that not only tells the story of your wedding day but also evokes the warmth and romance of the occasion.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • How much does a wedding photographer cost in Manchester?

The cost of wedding photography in Manchester can vary quite a bit, depending on factors like the photographer’s experience, the package you choose, and the length of coverage. You’ll find prices anywhere between £50 and a Pot Noodle to £3,000+ for a professional full-time wedding photographer.

I offer various packages starting at £2000 for full-day wedding coverage in Manchester.

  • Does Manchester have nice wedding venues?

Oh absolutely! Manchester is home to some truly stunning and unique wedding venues, like the ones I mentioned earlier. Whether you’re looking for a chic city hotel, an industrial warehouse vibe, or a more intimate garden setting, there’s something for everyone in this fantastic city.

  • Do photographers stay for the whole wedding?

Every photographer is different, but as for me, I’m here for you throughout your big day! I want to make sure I capture all those special moments, from the nervous preparations to the joyful and messy celebrations on the dance floor. I want a complete story from beginning to end, or maybe slightly earlier than the end as things can get pretty messy once the tequila shots get lined up. Depending on the package you choose, I can be there from getting ready until the first dance or even longer if you want to party the night away.

  • We're not sure on a wedding date. What time of year is best for wedding photos in Manchester?

Honestly, any time of the year can be magic for wedding photos in Manchester. Each season has its own charm. Spring and summer offer lush greenery, bright flowers, and longer days, perfect for outdoor ceremonies and beautiful sunset portraits. Autumn brings warm, golden hues, a cozy atmosphere, and the opportunity for gorgeous foliage-filled backdrops. Winter weddings in Manchester can be enchanting too, with crisp, frosty mornings and maybe even snow, creating a fairytale-like setting for your big day. I have snow boots ready to go!

The key is to work with a photographer who knows the local weather and can adapt to any situation, ensuring you get stunning images regardless of the season. As a Manchester Wedding Photographer, I’m experienced in capturing the beauty of weddings in this fantastic city, no matter when you choose to tie the knot.

Just not January, eh? Nobody likes January.

  • Is a wedding photographer worth it?

    We’re worth it!

With my expertise and more than 200 weddings under my belt, I know how to handle even the most challenging situations, ensuring you get authentic & compelling images that truly reflect the story of your special day.
