A Stunning Lake District Wedding Venue
I love Lake District weddings! Sarah & Andy were married recently at the gorgeous Low Wood Bay Hotel.
Nestled on the shores of Windermere under an intense sky, it would be difficult to find a more epic location for a wedding.
Yes, it was raining, no, we didn’t care, it’s England, embrace it!
Bridal Preparations at the Low Wood Bay Hotel
Sarah prepared for her wedding day with her bridesmaids in one of the hotel’s lovely little rooms.
The bride’s hair was done by Hannah at Heloise Hair & makeup was by Bobbi Brown (not the actual Bobbi, she couldn’t make it. Sarah put it on herself. Oh you know what I mean).
She wore a stunning backless gown by Essence of Australia. The bridesmaids shone in Little Mistress.
A beautiful bridal bouquet by florists Brackens of Bowness completed the look.
Great Views of Windermere
The wedding ceremony was held in a rather grand pillared room in Low Wood Bay Hotel.
The ceremony room has a fabulous view of Windermere from the floor-to-ceiling windows.
Everything went to plan, the right words were said at the right time, no one fainted and Boom! Married 🙂
Wedding Photos in the Rain
Just before their wedding breakfast, the newlyweds decided to go for a stroll to a nearby jetty. I took full advantage!
Fearlessly, like a warrior of ancient times, I strode into the rain armed only with a broken umbrella & a plastic sandwich bag to protect my delicate camera equipment.
At one point I removed my shoes & socks and jumped in the lake in search of a better angle. It was pretty fresh.
Basically, I was nothing short of heroic. I seemed to amuse several random onlookers, at least.
Awesome Wedding Cruise on Windermere
It was fantastic to be part of a proper fun-loving crowd. Following the wedding breakfast & speeches, Sarah & Andy had a private ferry to take the wedding guests out on the lake for an hour of fun.
One of the bridesmaids attached a GoPro to the end of a bottle of rum for epic bottle-chugging shenanigans. This was not going to be a sedate cruise.
After the cruise, it was back to the hotel for party time!
An epic dancefloor full of sweaty bodies was the perfect end to the day.
