I love Lake District weddings! Sarah & Andy were married recently at the gorgeous Low Wood Bay Hotel. Nestled on the shores of Lake Windermere under an intense sky, it would be difficult to find a more epic location for a wedding. Yes, it was raining, no, we didn’t care, it’s England, embrace it!
Sarah prepared for her wedding day with her bridesmaids in one of the hotel’s lovely little rooms. The bride’s hair was done by Hannah at Heloise Hair & makeup was by Bobbi Brown (not the actual Bobbi, she couldn’t make it. Sarah put it on herself. Oh you know what I mean). She wore a stunning backless gown by Essence of Australia while the bridesmaids shone in Little Mistress. A beautiful bridal bouquet by florists Brackens of Bowness completed the look.
The wedding ceremony was held in a rather grand pillared room in Low Wood Bay hotel, Lake Windermere visible from the big windows. Everything went to plan, the right words were said at the right time, no one fainted and Boom! Married 🙂
Just before their wedding breakfast, the newlyweds decided to go for a stroll to a nearby jetty. I took full advantage! Fearlessly, I went into the rain, armed only with a broken umbrella & a plastic sandwich bag to protect my delicate camera equipment. At one point I may have removed my shoes & socks and entered the lake, in search of a better angle. Basically, I was nothing short of heroic. I seemed to amuse several random onlookers, anyway.
It was fantastic to be part of a proper fun-loving crowd. Following the wedding breakfast & speeches, Sarah & Andy had a private ferry to take the wedding guests out on the lake for an hour. As soon as one of the bridesmaids attached a GoPro to the end of a bottle of rum for epic bottle-chugging shenanigans, I knew this was not going to be a sedate cruise. Party time!
Thank you so much for having me along on the day. I hope you enjoy this small selection of photographs from the wedding. Thanks for looking!
