Natural & Relaxed Wedding Photography in York
A beautiful autumnal Grays Court York wedding to share with you today! This was my very first visit to a delightful hidden gem in the heart of historic York. Almost a thousand years old, Grays Court is very much a piece of history. Emma & Matt chose Grays Court York to hold their wedding ceremony & invited me along to capture the day as it unfolded. What an amazing day! Switching a traditional dress for a bespoke top and skirt combo, Emma rocked the separates, which were made by her mum’s fair hands, no less. Matt looked every inch the dapper English gent in tweed. Such a cute couple!
Grays Court York Wedding Ceremony
After the ceremony everybody enjoyed cocktails on the grass outside, despite the British weather doing its best to dampen the party. Just before the rain became too heavy, I snatched a few minutes with Emma & Matt for very relaxed, natural photographs of the two of them together before we retreated inside.
The wedding reception was held at another amazing venue, the National Centre for Early Music. This converted medieval church became a fantastic party venue to continue the celebrations, complete with Lord of the Rings themed table names! Glad I wasn’t sitting on Mordor…
Emma’s dad played & sang a special song for his daughter just before the first dance, a wonderful surprise.
The bad weather continued well into the night but didn’t stop the party. The last I saw of Matt & his boys was the celebratory cigars being lit up under umbrellas in the pouring rain! That is real dedication.
I thoroughly enjoyed my adventure to York. I love discovering new venues & trying out new ideas. If you are getting married at Grays Court in York & are interested in natural wedding photography without the awkward posing, I might be the perfect photographer for you!
