Fixby Hall Wedding Celebrations
Louise & Jordan were married at the picturesque Fixby Hall in Huddersfield a few weeks ago. This beautiful venue is full of character, surrounded by woodland & manicured grounds- a perfect wedding location. I was so pleased to be invited along as I’d never worked there before. New wedding venues really get my creative juices flowing 🙂
The bride & her bridesmaids prepared for the wedding day at a nearby hotel. As she had her makeup & hair done, beautiful window-light wrapped around Louise & made the photographs a pleasure to capture. I don’t care what venue you get ready in, ultimate luxury or rustic charm, a smidgeon of gorgeously soft window-light is all a photographer needs to create the magic!
Louise wore a Ronald Joyce wedding dress & looked stunning, as you can see.
Richard, the Father of the Bride arrived as we were wrapping up the preparations. Always a lovely moment & one I really look forward to, especially with a room full of bridesmaids to add to the emotion. No need to set this up, just let the participants get on with the occasion!
A Yorkshire Wedding
We were soon off to Fixby Hall itself. Jordan, the groom, was patiently waiting with pint in hand. Actually, I think everyone had a pint in hand. Weddings remind me of going on holiday, it’s never too early to start 🙂
Fixby Hall has a lovely little ceremony room, perfect for a small, intimate wedding with close family & guests. Watching Louise walk up the aisle & seeing the groom’s face break out in the widest grin was fantastic.
Following the nuptials, we all went outside into the grounds of the Hall- Pimms & sunshine, it’d be rude not to! Wandering around with a wide-angle lens allowed me to take a step back and really set the scene.
A quick stroll with the bride & groom alone allowed me to get some really relaxed portraits of just the two of them, although I don’t really like the phrase “portraits”- it sounds so formal! If anyone can think of a better name for wandering around, having fun & chilling out with your photographer for 10 minutes, please email me!
After a delicious wedding breakfast (thanks to the staff at Fixby Hall for looking after me so well), it was time for speeches. The bestman, groom & father of the bride all did their part, reducing the room to tears & laughter in equal measures.
There was just enough time for a quick relax to let the meal digest before the evening reception kicked off. Jordan & Louise had already tried to get out of doing a first dance but eventually decided- why the hell not? J I’m so glad they did, as it gave the DJ a chance to use his smoke machine. I love smoke & off camera flash, it always makes for an interesting mix!
I hope you enjoy this small selection of images from my Fixby Hall wedding in Huddersfield. If you’re planning your own special day, please do get in touch, or check out another of my Yorkshire weddings here.
